What Board to Choose When Going on a Golfing Holiday With Your Society “The first ten years of the SSGS have been an overwhelming success, building up from a handful to more than 300 members and, over the next ten years, I can’t see anything other than its continued evolution.” It was the brainchild of Gordon MacDonald – a European Senior Tour pro for five years – and, from starting with just six golfers, it now boasts more than 300 active members. One of the largest golf societies in the UK has been hailed as it looks to attract even more members to ensure it continues to go from strength to strength. The team of 12 players will beannounced after completion of the Super Seniors International Masters atMonifieth on 28th August 2026. Accordingly the team selection will be based largely on the2025 Orders of Merit (SS Scratch OoM for scratch team & SS Handicap OoM forhandicap team) although each team Captain will have the last word on selectionfor his team. Due to thevery early timescale required to submit the entry and pay player entry fees,make hotel bookings and book flights the teams require to be selected by 1March 2026. One team is a scratch team and theother team will compete off handicap. The 3rd annual match against the Welsh SuperSeniors will be played at Aberdovey GC on Monday 11th and Tuesday 12thMay with a practice round beforehand on Sunday 10th May 2026. The event will be played at Glasgow Golf Club, Killermont and wevery much appreciate their support in hosting the event.
Fixture Lists – Scottish Seniors
The format for bothscratch and handicap teams is three pairs playing fourball better ball in onDays 1 & 2 with two scores counting from three and six singles playing onDay 3 with four scores counting from six. The scratch team will play medalplay for the Championship on one golf course and the handicap team will playstableford for the Cup on the other golf course. The SSGS have been invited by the European Seniors GolfAssociation to enter two teams of 6 players to compete for the ESGA TeamChampionship & Cup to be played at Kytaja GC, Finland from 29thJune to 4th July 2026.

In the event of a tie on OOM points, ranking will be decided by the number of SSGS events played in. Maximum handicap for super senior events only is 15.4 These days,complaints about slow play are common in virtually all golfing environments andarenas. All successful entrants will be emailed 14 days prior to event, reminding them that they have entered event, and advising that draw will be conducted in 7 days.
As you know we changed the format in 2023 and followed up with a surveyquestionnaire to seek feedback from those that qualified and played, and thosethat qualified but didn’t play. Thereafter entries will be held on a reserve list based on date of receipt of entry. Any entries received after closing date will be placed at bottom of reserve list on a first come basis, irrespective of handicap. Ian Brotherston, as teamcaptain, however shall have the last word on selection. The Super Seniors Sub-Committee have beensuccessful in arranging 3 team matches, against Wales, UK Senior Golf Association and Spain. From 2024 there will also be a Scratch Matchplay competition in addition tothe usual Handicap Competition. Only 15 of the 40 who played responded and 14of the 22 who qualified by didn’t play responded.
